“At the beginning, there was the image of a blossoming flower. A form that opens, feels present, yet carries something very soft. I wanted to translate exactly that feeling into the chair. The flower has often been referenced in the history of chair design. I consciously engaged with that reference and tried to turn it into something of our own, reflecting the attitude of OBJEKTE UNSERER TAGE. Not polite. Not conforming. But with character.

From the front, a strong sense of harmony emerges. Legs, seat and back follow the same line weight, as if drawn in a single movement. This gives the chair a clarity that feels calm in space, without becoming generic. The materials and their transitions continue the story. That is where the aesthetic comes to life. Up close, you begin to see the level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into it. I find that kind of understatement and depth incredibly appealing in furniture.

At the same time, my goal was to bring the comfort of an armchair to the dining table. The moment you sit down should simply feel right. The padding is deliberately generous. Nothing feels hard, everything gives slightly. The backrest is constructed with a flexible inner structure and foam, allowing it to move gently and adapt to the body. You don’t feel any hard wooden elements against your back, as is often the case. LINDE is something you have to experience to fully understand.

The slightly lounge-like feeling also comes from the proportions. The back is not overly high, everything happens on one level. This keeps the chair present without making it heavy or outdated. It remains open, light and fresh.

Another important aspect is the ability to replace individual elements. This not only makes LINDE long-lasting, but also invites a more playful approach to color and material. The chair can evolve over time.

The name LINDE is closely tied to Berlin. Unter den Linden is a place where many things come together: movement, history, everyday life. That same quality is what I wanted the chair to carry. Familiar, yet new.”
